About IGPC

COMPANY HISTORY
The origin of IGPC can be traced back to 1957, when Great Britain granted independence to its African colony of the Gold Coast. The fledgling nation, renamed Ghana, recognized the need to reach beyond its borders to find the resources and markets necessary for success in a competitive global economy.

As a newly independent nation, Ghana set about organizing an independent postal organization. The officials involved in this process quickly recognized the market that would exist for the stamps of a newly independent nation among collectors worldwide, given the proper market channels. Ghana turned to a young American Corporation, the Inter-Governmental Philatelic Corporation, for assistance in developing a distribution network for its collectible stamps and administration of their national Post Offices.

Using our expertise in planning, design, production, marketing and promotion of the postage stamps for our government clients, IGPC has become the world leader in philately. Through our world class Art Department, comprehensive Government Relations staff and our unparalleled Promotional and Marketing team, we manage to create the most appealing and popular stamps worldwide.

The following year the nation of Togo gained its independence from France and like its African neighbor, Togo aligned itself with IGPC. During the next few years, several new nations emerged, and as they sought to reach beyond their borders, they turned to IGPC for assistance in developing worldwide recognition and crucial revenues in their early stages of independence. With IGPC's experience these young nations were provided with all of the production and marketing know-how needed to produce postage stamps for their postal authorities.

As clients grew in numbers and as their needs grew in complexity, IGPC's staff, resources and services grew as well. With the fall of communism in the Soviet Union, IGPC was approached by many of these new independent nations to begin assisting in their postal programs and in helping them to establish needed recognition. Caribbean nations also were turning to IGPC in an attempt to achieve the success of their neighboring islands, who had chosen us as their agency years before. By the late 1980's a client base of over fifty nations had been realized.

Today, IGPC is the world's largest philatelic agency, representing over seventy postal administrations in matters relating to the administration, consultation, design, production and marketing of their postage stamps. It has also opened up previously untapped markets for its clients' stamps all over the world. Primarily, we assist governments in administrating & operating their postal administrations. Upon completion of their issues, IGPC also helps to generate revenue and popularity for these countries by marketing their stamps to collectors.

From the Indian Ocean to the Caribbean, Central America to the Mediterranean, the English Channel to the Arabian Peninsula, all across Africa, Southeast Asia and the Islands of the Pacific, IGPC's client countries comprise all the races, cultures and religions of the world.

Heading into the next century, IGPC looks forward to expanding its base of government clients and continuing its service to the philatelic world, while further modernizing the hobby for both the traditional philatelists and the next generation of stamp collectors.
